Trendy vs Effective

Just like food, clothes, shoes, etc., exercise has trends that come in and out. Everyone is trying to create and find something new. While that is great and it helps to expand the fitness world, it is beneficial to exercise caution (no pun intended) with trendy workouts and exercises. Not every exercise is best for every body and some trends are not all that safe. Exercise routines do not have to be trendy to be effective. Everyone is going to try to sell their trend or new discovery but they don’t sell the possible risks. Trendy exercise routines have often led to injuries for people because they were not warned of the risks or did not receive the proper education and guidance to perform it safely.

What to do when you see a new trendy exercise or workout…Reach out to a professional that you trust, (personal trainer, group fitness instructor, physical therapist, athletic trainer, etc.) and ask them for their recommendations on said new trend. You can ask them questions about safely performing the exercise or workout and if they feel it is a good fit for you.
